Praise God for our school!
This Sunday, 8th August we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the opening of our school at our 10.30 am service. As a part of this celebration we will also have the official opening of our brand new gymnasium which was made possible through Federal Government funding.
The growth of this school from its beginning in transportable buildings to the wonderful facilities we now have is quite a remarkable testament to the vision God laid on the hearts of the people who started the school 30 years ago. Their vision was to build a school that would provide a wonderful Christian environment for their children to learn in and also be a significant connection point to the community for spreading the Good News of Jesus.
Every year over three hundred children are taught the Good News of Jesus in the context of the school curriculum. The Good News of Jesus also filters out to the families through our weekly chapel services, our special worship services and most importantly through the living witness of the Christian staff and families in our school.
I have lost count of the times people have said to me, “There is something different and special about our school.” I firmly believe that difference is the presence of Jesus in the school through all the Christian staff and families who send their children there.
This Sunday together with all the school community we will have the opportunity to thank God for the gift of our school and the thirty years it has been running. Can I encourage you as part of our church to warmly welcome all the visitors from our school? May they be able to see the love of Jesus in us through our welcome.
I also want to continue to encourage every family who has a connection with the school to make the most of the opportunities God gives you throughout the school year to share something of the hope we have in Jesus. We have an incredible opportunity to witness to the love of Jesus right on our door step through our school. Let’s make the most of it. I hope you can join us to celebrate this wonderful event this Sunday.

Where to now, for our grounds?
We often get very positive comments about how attractive and well kept our grounds are. We have been fortunate over the past 15 years to have some very dedicated people caring for them. Gavin Sickerdick, then Brian and Margaret Cleverly, Jason Herrmann and more recently Kevin Lane. Over the last 3 years Kevin has volunteered 2 days a week working in the garden as well as doing a whole range of maintenance tasks. We thank him for his dedication and the many tasks he undertook saving the congregation 1000's of dollars. Kevin has indicated at least in the short term, if not longer, he will be taking a break from his voluntary work.
This leaves us with a dilemma of how we continue to maintain our grounds. There are 3 options:
• find an individual/ several people who are willing to look after the grounds,
• Share work amongst a whole lot of people e.g. the courtyard needs to be sprayed twice a year, the lawn along Montague Road needs to be cut, trees along the eastern boundary require trimming and the garden weeded etc. The grounds could be maintained in there present condition if there were enough people/ groups who were willing to take over responsibility for a small section of the tasks,
• Pay to have grounds maintained. This option would take money that could better be used to further our mission.
If you have any questions or are able to help please contact John Dolling on 8263 5087.
