Walking with Faith

Stepping into the Team Leader role for Children and Family ministry has been a big step out in faith for me. I trust that there will be both great and not so great times but that through these, God will be with me and give me everything I need to do His work.

Something that has really helped me to deepen my relationship with Jesus and trust Him in the details of life every day has been a daily devotion. This year I have been reading an amazing devotion book “Jesus Calling”. It takes me less than five minutes each day to read it and I can’t wait to pick it up each day to hear what God is saying to me! I have laughed out loud some days at how clearly He speaks to me through this book and gives me exactly what I need for that day.

Each day that I spend that time with God in the morning, is a great day. Things might not go according to my plan but He always reminds me that He has everything in His hands.

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

In trusting God I find that I worry less and look to Him more – it’s a wonderful, freeing feeling and a deeper relationship that I am continuing to build with Him. Through my experience, and the hope and freedom this has given me, can I challenge you to spend a small amount of time with God each day? It’s amazing the joy, trust and freedom it gives you!

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders,
let me walk upon the waters, wherever you may call me….
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander,
and my faith will be made stronger, in the presence of my Saviour!”

Every Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:30 our church is host to BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) an interdenominational group which holds classes around the world. This year we will get into the book of Matthew, discovering how relevant it is to our lives today. About 50-60 women come to share in small groups what they have learnt from readings during the week and then receive teaching on the following week’s passage. Children (babies to school age) are wonderfully nurtured and cared for in their own age appropriate classes.

We currently have about 4 women from our Good Shepherd community involved and would love to welcome more... if you are keen to find out more, feel free to drop by on a Tuesday morning or contact Sonia Hulme on 7122 2903 for more information.
