I am the light

Few of us like to be ‘kept in the dark’ about things that really matter in life.  We like to be kept in the loop about important decisions in our family, workplace, or school.  We like to know what’s happening in the lives of people we care about, and how our relationships are tracking.  No one likes to be kept in the dark.

And no one should be kept in the dark about who God is, what God is like, and how God regards us as people created in his image.  In Jesus we receive God’s definitive answer to these questions.

As part of our Lent series: Knowing Jesus, this Sunday we will explore one of Jesus’ statements:  ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ (John 8:12 NIV)

What does Jesus’ claim and promise mean for you?

Bible Readings: John 1:1-9, 3:19-21, 8:12

Kingdom Kids
Kingdom Kids kicked off for 2016 at the 10.30 service last Sunday.   Mr Hulme lead our worship time and we explored our theme for this year - “Kingdom Families”.  The children made a heart to give to someone they love as a reminder for them to pray for them throughout the year.  We finished off the morning by watching the Christmas Celebration Service last year.

Kingdom Kids will resume normal sessions this Sunday.  We would love for you to join us!

Activity folders will be available for the children and Personal Journals available for the older children for use during this service.

Issues from February Board meeting
  • It was decided to proceed with Stage 1 of our facilities redevelopment (kitchen, hall, children’s play area, hall upgrade and modifications to the Education Centre). This is subject to the congregation giving permission to borrow money from the LLL. Building will need to commence by early May and be completed by the end of September in time for 50th Anniversary celebrations. If this timeline cannot be accommodated building will be postponed till 2017
  • It was decided than we would not apply for any government grants where the source of the money is from gambling revenue.
  • The logo for the 50th Anniversary was adopted. This will be used for all correspondence about the 50th.
  • It was decided to proceed with obtaining examples of altars to give the congregation an opportunity to give feedback whether we upgrade our altar and associated furniture or retain the existing furniture
