God made famous - More than me

This Sunday at Good Shepherd
This week we begin a new sermon series called ‘God made famous’. The Bible says, ‘So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.’ (1 Corinthians 10:31) Everything we do as followers of Jesus is to be for God’s glory, not our own glory. We are to live for the fame of God.

In a culture that tells us that life is “all about me”, God’s call to live for his glory and not our own is both challenging to hear and live out. However, no matter how much glory we may attain in this life, it will only ever be for this life. In the end it will all be in vain if done apart from God.

In our opening message ‘More than me’ we will explore what God’s glory is and why living for his fame is the ultimate purpose of our lives. We will also explore how we can better spread the fame of Jesus.

Sunday Readings:
Matthew 13:44-46 Jesus’ parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl
Ephesians 2:1-7 Made alive in Christ

Kingdom Kids
In Kingdom Kids this term, our focus has been “Serving in our Church”.  We hope your child or grandchild has had an opportunity to serve alongside you in your ministry area at least once this term.

Serving in Our Church Wrap Up with Maranatha
On Sunday Kingdom Kids will be wrapping up Term 3 by participating in the Maranatha Health Market Stall.  Our Kingdom Kids have been praying for Maranatha Health throughout this term.  We will be celebrating answered prayer and preparing for the stall.  Please prepare some food at home and bring it along to church to sell at the stall.  Please come along and encourage the Kingdom Kids after the 10.30 service and ask them about the prayers that God has answered!

Baby Zone
Did you know that Baby Zone runs during the school term at our 10.30am services for 0-2 year olds?  In Baby Zone we talk about the same simple topic for one month.
Our topic for September is:  I See God’s Love at Church
Jesus Came to Church (See Luke 2:22-38)
I like to come to church (See Psalm 122:1)
This month your child will:
  • hear words and songs about God’s love;
  • feel glad to be at church with people who demonstrate God’s love to them;
  • participate in enjoyable activities at church.
If you haven't been to Baby Zone before we would like to encourage you and your toddler or baby to give it a try!
