Raising Up Spiritual Champions – thinking and acting like Jesus

Why are the numbers of Christians with a biblical worldview so small? Maybe it’s partly because in many churches and in many Christian families there has not been a deliberate, systematic attempt to teach young people how to think like Jesus. Shaping the thinking process is a vital starting point because you cannot act like Jesus until you can think like Him. Simply knowing the Bible characters and a few dozen Bible stories and regurgitating some Bible verses isn’t enough. You have to understand the mind of God and the nature of life before you have the ability to cherish the life of Christ (Raising up Spiritual Champion, Gospel Light Ministries).

Here at PV, we are passionate about taking the teaching of the Bible seriously, making the most of the learning moments we have to prepare our children for a life of obedience, love, service and wisdom.

Our Children Youth and Family Team have committed to and accepted the challenge of helping to shape the minds and hearts of young people. Amazingly the spiritual choices and core theological beliefs of most people are set in stone before they reach the age of 13. We understand the urgent need to help young people develop a worldview based upon God’s principals and will continue to seek your assistance as our church family in empowering children and youth to think like Jesus so that they can act like Jesus. As parents, church members and leaders we owe such training to children and will someday be held accountable for how well we provided such preparation for life.

I have been privileged beyond words to work in the area of Children and Family Ministry for several years now. In this time I have learnt more than I could have ever imagined about family life, mentoring, leadership, and nurturing the faith of children.  As time has passed, I have also become more convicted and convinced about the need for all members of the body to be in the process of ‘raising up spiritual champions’ as it is not simply given to the small percentage of the church that run child or family related activities. In several weeks I will be stepping out of my role for a time to enter the next stage of my family life. As my family grows, so does my faith and desire to see the children and youth within our community lead, mentored and taught. We are blessed in this community to have a large number of families with children and a growing number of passionate leaders and teachers, ready and willing to make a difference in the lives of these kids. Thank you for the incredible amount of love and encouragement you have shown me in my role. Please continue to support Beth Einthal as she steps in… we both look forward to continuing this adventure with each of.

As I step into my time of leave, can I please encourage you to continue praying for this ministry? But beyond that, I urge you to be an active participant in some way or another. Thanks.
