God made famous in our trials

This Sunday at Good Shepherd
God made famous is our current worship series at Good Shepherd. Over the last two weeks, Pr Noel has laid a great platform.  God created us for HIS glory, and we see that glory most clearly in Jesus.  We reflect God’s glory in radical acts of love: to the marginalised, to those different to us, and even to those who treat us badly!

In our previous worship series, we answered the question: What is God’s Response to Suffering?  This Sunday we’re exploring OUR response to hardships, afflictions and suffering. Jesus never promised us a trouble-free life in this broken world. When it hits the fan in life, one thing is for sure: it changes us – for better, or for worse.

What can we learn from Jesus about handling hardships?
As followers of Jesus, how can we give glory to God even in our trials?

Come along Sunday and find out: God made famous in our trials.

Sunday Readings: 2 Corinthians 4:5-11,16-18 NLT and 2 Corinthians 12:7b-10 NLT

Good Shepherd Remembrance Service
Following a suggestion from our widows, we’re planning a Remembrance Service for Saturday November 7th, 1:30pm.  The aims are to remember loved ones who have died, to share our grief with one another, and to seek God’s comfort in Jesus.

As part of that service, we would like to offer family members and friends an opportunity to light a candle.  If someone can organise a suitable sand tray or stand for lit candles, please let me know.

We also would like to read out a list of names of those being remembered.  If you would like a loved one’s name to be read out, please supply their name and date of death to our Church Office – or write it on your Connect Card at Sunday worship.

Following the service, there will be an afternoon cuppa in the hall.

Pr Rolly Stahl

Thanks from Maranatha Health
The Maranatha Health Spring Market stall on the 21st September was a buzz of conversation, buying and serving. With your help we raised almost $900 for the work of the children's clinic and community development program in Uganda.

A special thanks to those who donated baked goods, plants, crafts and fresh produce. Also to the Kingdom Kids children who prayed for Maranatha Health all of term 2, and shared the answers to prayer through their creative artwork in the hall.

If you didn’t receive a Maranatha Health Prayer Needs handout and would like one as a prayer prompt please see Keren Sutton.

Our next fundraising stall will be held in November and we'd love your help, so put your creativity to work in any way you can to support the vital work of Maranatha Health.

This is a short term placement in the Maranatha Children’s Clinic (www.maranathahealth.org) in Fort Portal, Uganda. Doctors are being sought for December 2015 – February 2016 who are interested in working with a medical team to serve the community in addressing childhood health issues, while another Doctor is on leave. The majority of the team are Ugandans, with support from the Director of Maranatha Health Uganda, Dr Michael Findlay and/or a British doctor. This is a well-run clinic, which sees approximately 300 patients/week, presenting with a range of interesting and more routine conditions. Given the lack of infrastructure and trained personnel in the other nearby clinics, Maranatha Health fills a critical gap in infant and childhood health.

Enquiries are welcome, via Dr Michael Findlay (michael.findlay@maranathahealth.org). We look forward to hearing from you and beginning your adventure!
